Fattoria La Peschiera was established in 1980 on a beautiful hillside of eight acres overlooking the town of Saturnia, in the heart of Etruria. Respect for the environment and adherence to European regulations is their hallmark. Wine quality is a product of the natural fertility of the soil and optimal southern exposure for perfect ripening. Their scrupulous attention to detail throughout all stages of production, from pruning and harvesting to thermo-controlled vinification make for extremely high quality wines.
Location of Vineyards
The winery is located in Tuscany’s Maremma region. The Maremma is a narrow strip of land in western Tuscany with a long coastline on the Tyrrhenian Sea. The area’s rich volcanic soil and dry, hot weather makes it a prime area for growing wine grapes. The sea breezes from the nearby Tyrrhenian Sea also promote large day-night temperature swings which are beneficial to growing quality grapes because they help balance the level of sugar and acidity in the maturing grapes. Planted varietals include: Sangiovese, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Alicante, Ciliegiolo, Vermentino, and Chardonnay.
The phases of wine, from the crushing natural aging in oak barrels, all occurring in the cellar of the farm family, under the expert guidance of winemaker Marco Stefanini.
